Wedding

So, you’ve all been wondering about the wedding (well, mostly Lauren ๐ ) – so here goes..
Well, it was amazing.ย ย It flew past so quickly though as I knew it would, but I have some awesome memories from the day
We held it outside by the lake as we had wanted, it was only 30 degrees so not too hot.
Henry was the first to walk down from the house to the gazebo by the lake, followed by Ella then Piper, Anja, Larissa then Jay, escorted by her Dad.
Jay looked amazing, so beautiful, I’m sure any photos of me would just have me grinning like a loon ๐
The service was short and sweet, I loved the vows and the exchange of rings – I just remember focussing on Jay’s big blue eyes and grinning lots
The kids did us proud, Henry was so good, standing by either Pete or me very patiently and the girls looked and behaved beautifully
We walked up to the house after the ‘I will’s’
and had some champers and did some formal photos. It started to heat up a bit at this point – over 30 degrees in a suit or wedding dress is pretty warm.
We did a load of pics with Shelly from Smile Photography, then went for a 10 minute chill before making our grand entrance for the reception.
The food was lovely, they catered for Jay with a lovely vegan dish, but she was a bit hot to eat much.
We did the speeches after dinner was over, eating up our bar tab with more champers – *hic*. My speech went ok, my voice was totally shot from the virus I picked up from either my sister, my kids or the plane earlier in the week, so I had to keep it really short.ย Pete, Jay’s ex and my best man (I get on really well with him, he’s a top bloke!) did a wonderfully sincere speech that I’ll never forget.
Then we cut the cake (and very yummy it is too – we have a whole tier left to eat – chocolate mudcake – non nom :))
We did the first dance to ‘little waltz’ by Basia Bullat – check it out if you’ve not heard it – which was lovely – everything just vanished apart from Jay and I slowly twirling for those 3 minutes
The rest of the night was spent chatting everyone, putting Henry to bed and unwinding..
Professional photos will follow in a few weeks or so – here’s a couple that got taken whilst Shelly was doing her thing before the ceremony
All in all, it was a most excellent day and I’m still grinning about it all ๐
Love you, Jay xx
Christmas

Only 5 days late – lol.
So, Christmas morning was a late one, the kids slept in as we had dragged them around the Christmas lights late the night before – I even had to go wake Henry at 8:30 as he was still sound asleep.
Got some excellent presents, a wide angle pin-hole Holga, a fish-eye lens for the other Holga and a Wii cricket game that I am yet to play as the kids have been on Wii Sport Resort morning noon and night.
Loved seeing all the kids get their presents – they all got surprises which was cool.ย Everything was a surprise for Henry though and he had a lovely time.
My parents came over, followed by Jays parents and Jay’s brother – we had a wicked feast and lots of presents and we had a brilliant day.ย We all sat outside on the patio in the 30+ degree heat and drank wine and chatted.ย Bliss.
Some pics from the day ๐
amazingly that t-shirt stayed clean for 3 days despite heavy chocolate consumption, jam sandwiches and running about boy-style-ee.
Cos we were so busy, I don’t have many other pics – Jay’s girls were off playing within seconds of getting their presents and that was that – what with a houseful, I never did get to play family snapper.ย Ah well..they all had buckets of fun.
a brief moment

yup – the kids are playing, we have guests (well, Jay’s friend Cher is here) and I have finally managed to slink off to write a quick update..
We’ve had an awesome week with my parents and kids being here.ย We went out to meet my parents in Fremantle and headed over to have dinner in Wagamama on Tuesday (was that really more than a week ago? – man, time is rushing by) which was cool – they cater well for gluten free and vegan diets which was a major draw for us.
Other things we did – it all seems so jumbled up now:
- we’ve been to the beach a few times for a paddle in the surf
- went to Penguin Island on Christmas Eve to see Western Australia’s largest colony of Little (or fairy) penguins
- had a walk down the street with all the Christmas lights
- had the whole family over for Christmas lunch
- had a quiet boxing day with a walk on the beach
- got married (more on this later ๐ )
- had lots of friends over
The kids have had a lovely time so far – we’re going to play in the park thats just behind where I live later which should keep the monsters at bay for a few hours.
Here’s some pics from our trip to Penguin Island on Christmas Eve
Still to come, Christmas Day and our wedding ๐

sorry for the brief hiatus in blogging activities – I’ve been a little busy..
I went to collect my kids from the UK on Friday – taking Malaysian Airlines flight to the UK via KL.ย I arrived on Saturday at 5:30am, jumped in a hire car, navigated snow, drove to Suffolk to get the kids, then to Kent (where there was a lot of snow) for a night at my sisters before catching a Singapore Airlines flight back to Perth on Sunday
The kids were great on the flight and we got back to the house on Monday afternoon to a lovely welcome from Jay’s kids.ย Ella and Henry were pretty much swept off as soon as they walked in to play which was very cool.
We’ve had fun this week so far – here are some pics ๐
More news later, right now, I’m off to get married ๐
priorities

Jay just got a text from one of her former work colleagues saying that she can’t come to the wedding tomorrow after all – she has to work.
Well sod right off –ย you RSVP’d (eventually – another really long story) which meant you were ok to come. We put in final numbers and we’re paying $200 for your food.
But somehow, a last minute offer of work comes on Boxing Day which takes precedent over over wedding to which you had already agreed to attend.ย You didn’t have to work, it would have been easy to say “no, sorry, can’t do it today, I’m going to a wedding”ย Thats what most people would have done.
But no, apparently in your world, its fine to send a single brief text to the bride the day before saying you’re not coming.
Also – you’re a swimming teacher and its a Sunday right after Christmas – surely there’s not so much work on that you cant attend the whole wedding? We’re not starting till 3:30 and dinner is at 6, I would have thought even if you did have work, that you could still attend.
So I can only conclude that its bullshit and I hate bullshitters, so you can stuff right off.
I cant believe we invited you over some of our other friends – we wont be making that mistake again
Meh!

I worked it out – I have to use image capture to download the photos as iTunes doesnt do it – very odd!
Anyway, for your viewing pleasure – some photos from the last week or so – mostly taken with “The Best Camera” iPhone app.

Been taking lots of pics with the iPhone and an app modestly called The Best Camera (on the basis that the best camera is the one you have with you)
The iPhone cam is pretty average really, certainly when compared to the Nokia N95, but TBC app on here is very cool, once I work out how to blog pictures from this phone I’ll show you – check out my Twitter feed on the sidebar on the right for now
Off to Perth to get my wedding suit taken in and up now whilst Jay has her hair done pre-wedding stylee. Laters, all ๐

It’s not that easy, the ‘keyboard’ is small and very sensitive on this phone, I reckon my old blackberry was easier from a typing point of view, but this is getting easier with time.
So, I didn’t say did I? I got an iPhone 3GS from work. I’ve been resisting as they are expensive and a total luxury, and besides, I just got a Nokia N95 from a friend and that did everything I needed. But a 1/2 price offer under salary sacrifice (get tax deduction) means I probably only paid AU$300 for it, which was nice.
It’s a very cool toy as it turns out, its very well thought out, usability is in a different league to the Nokia, and the apps from the app store are awesome. I wish I’d got one sooner. The only downside is the battery really only lasts a day of you use it a lot , especially with 3G or wireless.
That’s another thing, wireless, takes 2 mins to set up and then whenever I’m at home, it uses that for all Internet traffic – fast browsing and mail and stuff – true mobile Internet.
So, here on the train, I can do everything I can on the laptop without having to sacrifice display quality or phone usability. Cool ๐
iPhone – 9/10 battery is the only thing, but in this sized case and with what the phone can do, it does ok
garden tastic
Posted on December 13, 2009
Its gotten hot all of a sudden and, as I’m really busy at work now, the aircon will have to remain unfixed as I dont have time to chase and chase the people I had lined up to come and sort it.
The garden, however, is very much my responsibility and, despite the heat, I will have to venture out and get dirty shortly.
Our neighbours dropped off some plants for us this morning (which set the dog off, hurling herself at the blinds in a bark-frenzy) which was really cool – they said they were going to a few weeks back but I’d kind of forgotten about it.
The only small snag is that they’re all the same plant – a rapidly growing daisy, but thats ok, I have lots of space in the garden to fill where I cleared almost a skip-full of ivy away earlier in the year.
So I’ll be out doing that once I’ve done the Sunday house cleaning session – always such a joy.
For your viewing pleasure, some photos of the fruits of my labour ๐
