We’re pretty lucky here in the Southern Hemisphere. Perth is far away from the world and very beautiful.
The downside is that we have all kinds of wildlife that is out to get us here, but we also have tiny fairy penguins. And they live on Penguin Island, only a few hundred metres off the coast near Rockingham, conveniently, only a short drive from my place. Read More
The other day I had to go out to choose a new front door from a supplier that has a warehouse in a pretty rough looking industrial zone. The place was amazing and I got what I was looking for pretty quickly, which left me a little bit of time to take a couple of pictures and take the long way home Read More
I decided to take the bike out on a gratuitous run around yesterday. It’s been ages since I’ve just walked or driven about with the camera on my own for the sake of it. In fact, the last time might have been when I went to Brisbane with work. Crap, huh?
So this post is kinda dedicated to a fellow blogger – a veritable Arkansas Traveller – Jeffrey, who takes pictures and blogs about rural Arkansas as he cycles about. I totally love that – it’s just about getting out there. Go find him here
It was a really hot day – into the 30’s before lunch, but there was a storm front coming down from the north, bringing cloud and interesting skies.
So around 5pm I jumped on the bike, put the trusty little LX5 in my pocket and headed out to take some shots from the coast. Areas I have plenty of pictures of already – mostly way better ones than I could hope to get with just the pocket camera, but I don’t care – it was just nice to get out and get some air. Plus I got to ride the bike, which still makes me feel like a spitfire pilot. Read More
yup – the kids are playing, we have guests (well, Jay’s friend Cher is here) and I have finally managed to slink off to write a quick update..
We’ve had an awesome week with my parents and kids being here. We went out to meet my parents in Fremantle and headed over to have dinner in Wagamama on Tuesday (was that really more than a week ago? – man, time is rushing by) which was cool – they cater well for gluten free and vegan diets which was a major draw for us.
Other things we did – it all seems so jumbled up now:
we’ve been to the beach a few times for a paddle in the surf
went to Penguin Island on Christmas Eve to see Western Australia’s largest colony of Little (or fairy) penguins
had a walk down the street with all the Christmas lights
had the whole family over for Christmas lunch
had a quiet boxing day with a walk on the beach
got married (more on this later 😉 )
had lots of friends over
The kids have had a lovely time so far – we’re going to play in the park thats just behind where I live later which should keep the monsters at bay for a few hours.
Here’s some pics from our trip to Penguin Island on Christmas Eve
