So it’s been very wet here recently. Deluges of biblical proportions kind of wet. It’s good, the dams need it – although very wet winters do create bushfire fuel problems for the summer. Anyways, it was very foggy/misty here after a very wet week and I decided to get off my fat arse and go take some pictures up by the local dam.
Bit slack on this blog! I’ve been a bit hit and miss on the old fitness plan after picking up a back injury lifting wood over winter and then after getting a good solid restart during early spring, came unstuck again – probably a disk herniation this time given the pain and sciatica – that was a hellish month or so. But after about…
oops, thats not good! It’s been a busy week at work, my poor little brain has been working overtime to finish the things that I need to do for the project I’m working on. Too much work and no play makes Charlie a dull boy. Anyway, its been a good few weeks – we finally ripped up the skanky old carpets from the formal…
I’ve been a busy bee these last few weeks. I decided that a year of inactivity on the house was a bit crap so got down to prepping and painting First, little ‘un’s room, as she was happy to clear up and empty her room without any complaining, unlike big ‘un, who just whined and moaned that it would be too much like hard…
We’re well renowned for our deadly animals down here in UpsideDown Land. You name any number of ways to get bitten, pronged, chomped, eaten, zapped, stung and poisoned, we’ve got something, usually pretty small and easily missed, that can do you in without breaking sweat. As some of you might recall, I got bitten by a whitetail spider when I first arrived here and…
Its gotten hot all of a sudden and, as I’m really busy at work now, the aircon will have to remain unfixed as I dont have time to chase and chase the people I had lined up to come and sort it. The garden, however, is very much my responsibility and, despite the heat, I will have to venture out and get dirty shortly….
You may have guessed that I rather like gardening. There’s something very satisfying in getting nature to bend to my will. I’m kidding myself, its more like nature doing what the hell it pleases and me carving a little order within it all. We got given a load of big outdoor pots by Jay’s parents a few weeks back as they were moving to…
as I was clearing away some of the garden rubbish out the front, the neighbours across the road came out to potter about their front garden before going on an evening stroll, as is their want every night. They are a retired couple, probably in their early 70s and they have a lovely house and garden. I decided to walk over and say hi….
Fixed the irrigation this afternoon. It just required the fuses to be replaced and the new cable runs that I did the other day to be rejoined with proper cable connecting clips. I also re-wound the tape round a few of the older (but as far as I know, non functioning) cable joins, just to be sure. Tested the connections with a multimeter to…
Irrigation, reticulation, sprinklers, watering, call it what you will, its all the same and I flimmin’ well hate it. So, after getting a new pump for the bore, it turned out the pump relay was also busted (probably happened as the old pump burned out) so that needed a sparky to come out and replace it – simple job actually, but not one I…
