Fog and Mist and updates

So it’s been very wet here recently. Deluges of biblical proportions kind of wet. It’s good, the dams need it – although very wet winters do create bushfire fuel problems for the summer. Anyways, it was very foggy/misty here after a very wet week and I decided to get off my fat arse and go take some pictures up by the local dam.

Spring into Summer

Bit slack on this blog! I’ve been a bit hit and miss on the old fitness plan after picking up a back injury lifting wood over winter and then after getting a good solid restart during early spring, came unstuck again – probably a disk herniation this time given the pain and sciatica – that was a hellish month or so. But after about…

Normal Service will be resumed!

Oh dear, this blog has fallen behind If anyone is still there, I’m sorry! So, this post is a tale of the last 6 months or so in photo form..

Gardening

I love my garden. Sure, its rough around the edges, only barely under a semblance of control, but after a busy season of pruning, hacking, digging and re-planting – it’s starting to come together. This season, I bought a chainsaw, which meant bigger more serious chopping could be done. We have a lot more light coming into the back now as a result. I…

this and that

This is post about lots of different things, all unrelated. Firstly, I just heard that my daughter got invited to audition for the junior year at the Royal Ballet School in London.  She attends one of the Royal Ballet School’s regional centres on a scholarship and they’ve asked her and one other student to go to London to audition for a place in the…

rain rain

don’t go away, its nice to have you to cool things down again.. Its been another crazy busy week work-wise, hopefully its done and dusted by the end of tomorrow and I can return to the more sedate pace I was previously used to.  Its also been a hot week, peaking at 39C on Friday, which was pretty warm given that my air con…

time to pay the piper

Yes, a winter of leaving the garden alone means I now have to spend the spring getting it sorted. All the little jobs that would have been ‘easy’ are now kinda bigger and more involved.  Well, they’re probably not, its just hotter and sweatier out there! The plan for the spring is as follows (today) strip and re-varnish the patio furniture. re-seat some of…

creepy crawlies

We’re well renowned for our deadly animals down here in UpsideDown Land. You name any number of ways to get bitten, pronged, chomped, eaten, zapped, stung and poisoned, we’ve got something, usually pretty small and easily missed, that can do you in without breaking sweat. As some of you might recall, I got bitten by a whitetail spider when I first arrived here and…

garden tastic

Its gotten hot all of a sudden and, as I’m really busy at work now, the aircon will have to remain unfixed as I dont have time to chase and chase the people I had lined up to come and sort it. The garden, however, is very much my responsibility and, despite the heat, I will have to venture out and get dirty shortly….

garden antics

You may have guessed that I rather like gardening. There’s something very satisfying in getting nature to bend to my will. I’m kidding myself, its more like nature doing what the hell it pleases and me carving a little order within it all. We got given a load of big outdoor pots by Jay’s parents a few weeks back as they were moving to…
