It’s Chriiiiiiiiiiiisssstmaaaaaaas.

Yes, it is, as yelled by Noddy Holder in that old faithful seasonal refrain, ‘Merry Christmas Everybody’

I hope you had a brilliant Christmas – I certainly have!

Public Holiday walkies

After a week of pouring rain and the last of the winter storms, the skies cleared and we had a beautiful day.  Which, as luck would have it, was a public holiday.

Boo yar.

So, some chores and blah blah later, it was time for a ride on my bike.

I was going to go for a long ride, but I rode up to Point Peron and it looked so lovely that I decided to go for a walk and leave the long ride for another time

Snippets from the weekend

Greetings, fellow humans – hope things are well with you all!

So, what’s been happening in sunny Perth?   Actually, not so much in the way of sun – we’ve had a ton of rain lately, which timed itself perfectly with some closures of the train line in the city.  Guess who was on the bike like a drowned rat for most of the time?

This weekend, however, the sun came out and it was lovely and warm.  T-shirt weather in winter – dear Northern hemisphere dwellers, don’t get too jealous :p    So not to waste the opportunity, Jay and I headed out to Fremantle to wander about, buy a few things and get some tasty lunch.

winter shenanigans

Hello dear readers (of which there are now a great many, apparently – WordPress tells me that I have over 1200 followers and subscribers – nice!) I hope you’re all well and happy in your lives in whatever corner of the globe you call home.

So, we’re officially past the winter solstice now (and were 2 posts ago, but I just forgot) and the days are getting longer for us southern hemisphere dwellers.   As I mentioned before, the crappy winter weather tends to hit Perth in July and August, so we have a little ways to go before we see signs of spring.

More X100 – a little review and some pics

First, I’d just like you all to notice for the record that this the second post in a row that hasn’t featured anything motorbike related.

But this is camera related!

The X100.  I truly love this little camera.

It looks utterly fabulous and takes brilliant pictures.

I did have to upgrade the firmware to the latest version as the original settings meant it did some things that were downright annoying.   (6 seconds for the camera to start, for example) To be fair, all these things had been reported in thousands of reviews, blogs, youtube clips and all over the internet, so it was really my own fault for not doing it sooner. Filmy goodness.

I swore I’d use my film cameras loads.  And I meant it.

The trouble is, well, I’m slack.

And I want instant results dammit!

Pathetic. Read More

A ride around the beaches

Best thing about living by the sea – being able to ride around the beaches.

It never gets old.  Probably because I grew up an hour or so’s drive away from the coast I hardly ever saw it, except for holidays and the occasional sunny summer Sunday.

So off I went out with the camera again – and here’s some pictures 🙂

The best bit about autumn – clouds.

Summer in Perth is all very well, but the heat, the endless blue skies and 15 hours of sunshine a day can get a bit wearing.

I know, I know, how ungrateful!! Compared to England, we have good weather here – even when its cold, its warm.  Blah blah!

Well, the summer has packed its bags now and autumn is coming and with it – clouds, rain and cool breezes.  All of which are great for photographs.  A bit of cloud and suddenly everything is a little bit more interesting.

To breakfast and back

Sundays on the bike.  That’s what this blog is turning into!

I warn you, it’s probably not going to get much better!!  I’m hooked on riding my little bike and I can hardly wait to get my next bike test done so I can graduate onto bigger bikes and explore a bit further.  That will have to wait until the end of the year though my pretties.

So in the meantime, more pics from my rides on the little red Ninja and a few others, just because. Read More

All work and no play

As the saying goes – all work and no play makes Charlie a dull boy.

I have been doing some fun stuff, but:

a. Its been too hot (no really – 40C+ – ugh)
b. I’ve been too lazy (see a)
c. I’ve been busy with other not so interesting stuff.

Anyway, if I have anyone left still reading this blog – here’s some words and pictures from the last month! Read More
