Now, where were we..?

Hello, dear readers!  1000 apologies for the slight hiatus but I’ve been sick.  Stupid winter flu bugs have kept me from doing a lot for the last month.

I even missed a day of work and as I only get paid for what I work (no sick leave for us company directors) that’s a pretty big deal.  For me to sacrifice that amount of money to the flu god, it was pretty bad.  That’s kind a shit buys a lot of wine.

Anyways, its not all been doom and gloom, I have managed to ride my bike a lot, even though it’s suddenly turned very cold.

0.7C at 6:45am kinda cold.  Yes, I know northern hemisphere dwellers would say ‘thats not cold, if you want cold, try riding in the snow yer great southern shandy drinking poof’

Yeah, no.  I’ve done that, it’s not fun.  Plus it doesn’t snow here.

A ride around the beaches

Best thing about living by the sea – being able to ride around the beaches.

It never gets old.  Probably because I grew up an hour or so’s drive away from the coast I hardly ever saw it, except for holidays and the occasional sunny summer Sunday.

So off I went out with the camera again – and here’s some pictures 🙂

The best bit about autumn – clouds.

Summer in Perth is all very well, but the heat, the endless blue skies and 15 hours of sunshine a day can get a bit wearing.

I know, I know, how ungrateful!! Compared to England, we have good weather here – even when its cold, its warm.  Blah blah!

Well, the summer has packed its bags now and autumn is coming and with it – clouds, rain and cool breezes.  All of which are great for photographs.  A bit of cloud and suddenly everything is a little bit more interesting.

tiny update

Its been a crap couple of weeks for getting out and about and taking photos cos I’ve been sick.

Yes, the dreaded man-flu.

You know it’s bad when a 4 day weekend with gorgeous 30C sunny days could not even tempt me outside, and then the following week I had to have a day off work.   When you’re paid by the day and don’t get sick leave, this is a very big deal.

To breakfast and back

Sundays on the bike.  That’s what this blog is turning into!

I warn you, it’s probably not going to get much better!!  I’m hooked on riding my little bike and I can hardly wait to get my next bike test done so I can graduate onto bigger bikes and explore a bit further.  That will have to wait until the end of the year though my pretties.

So in the meantime, more pics from my rides on the little red Ninja and a few others, just because. Read More

Of planets, comets and motorbikes

No, I haven’t been riding to the stars, taking mind altering hallucinogenic drugs or doing the Sunday crossword!

My week (or rather slightly more than a week, I’m cheating slightly here, I needed to save a few pics from a couple of weeks back to make this work…) has been pretty full of cool things.

But most especially its been full of planets, comets and motorbikes. Read More

All work and no play

As the saying goes – all work and no play makes Charlie a dull boy.

I have been doing some fun stuff, but:

a. Its been too hot (no really – 40C+ – ugh)
b. I’ve been too lazy (see a)
c. I’ve been busy with other not so interesting stuff.

Anyway, if I have anyone left still reading this blog – here’s some words and pictures from the last month! Read More

Greetings from the other side

Happy New Year, dear internet.

Yes, I know I’m about a month late, I’ve been busy, ok! :p

So, what has been going on in my world that’s meant a 6 week hiatus?  One word

Work.

Boxing Day goodness

So, all you northern hemisphere dwellers with your snow and your wrap up warm Christmas cheer where mulled wine makes perfect sense don’t know how good you have it!

As I said before, it doesn’t feel like Christmas down here in Perth – it’s almost 40C today with clear skies (and a strong sea breeze, thank god) – everyone’s heading to the beach or barbecuing on the many foreshore picnic areas.  How is that Christmas?  LOL!

It is, however, perfect weather to have a little ride about and I think I might have to make this a Boxing Day tradition. Read More

Sunday blast

My friend Pete had been planning a Sunday ride out on the bike with his Dad and I was invited along.  The plan was to ride up to the hills through Serpentine and Jarrahdale and then into Pinjarra and onto Mandurah for a late breakfast.

The sun was shining, it was already warm out, Jay was still in bed and little ‘un was fast asleep when I set out at 8:30am on the little red Ninja 250 to meet up at Pete’s house. Read More
