Sorry for the slight delay – I have succumbed to the rather nasty flu that is doing the rounds here in Perth..
I dropped the kids back off in Suffolk and said our goodbyes and given a minor miracle with the lack of weekend traffic, was back home in Kent nice and early with time to kill for a change.
The weather was beautiful so I decided to go for a run around Plaxtol. Read More

Whilst Deal was fun in a kind of ‘faded English seaside town with castles’ kind of a way, we were a bit unsatisfied and it was only just early afternoon and the sun was shining.
As we drove through Dover, I saw a sign for ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ and made an executive decision.. detour time.
So we went up the steep hill past Dover Castle to see what the famous White Cliffs of Dover had to offer Read More

It was getting towards the end of the trip and I wanted to take the kids somewhere different. The day wasn’t going to be ideal weather wise early on, but it was promising to clear up late morning and be a beautifully sunny summer day.
So I packed the kids in the car on a rainy morning and we drove an hour to the far eastern part of Kent to go see the Henry VIII era castle and what else was there. Read More

We’d done this before, but we decided to go to Tonbridge and hire a rowing boat and row around the river.
It was a much nicer day than last time (it rained on us before!) and Ella being a bit older this time, took the oars and rowed us around! Read More

This is a simple post, with lots of pretty pictures 🙂
I got up early and went for an ambitious walk, through the footpaths and laneways of the places I know like the back of my hand from when I grew up.
Views for days, beautiful old buildings and the paths go on and on for as long as you can.
I was a beautiful day too. Was so perfect. So much so that I even ran back from where I ended up – 6km. Read More

After a few days We were thinking of places we hadn’t been to that weren’t too far away and we settled on Scotney Castle.
It was about 40 minutes drive and despite being a beautiful Sunday after a few days of rain, we managed not to get too caught up in the traffic the notoriously busy roads that head down towards the south coast. The kids were happy – another new place to go, with the promise of a lunch out and maybe ice creams later. Read More

We took the kids to a local indoor climbing place in Tonbridge – they have all these really cool climbing challenges for all sorts of levels of ability with a special ‘auto belay’ line thingo that means they can climb high without worrying about falling off; the thing always lowers you gently to the ground very cool and safe. It’s that time of year again – back to Blighty to see my beautiful children.
2 weeks in Kent, chilled out, plenty of fun and hopefully some lovely British sunshine. Still chasing kilograms and fitness, so I’m bringing my running gear and going to eat as healthily as I can.
This time I flew via Dubai on Emirates. I’ve been that route twice before I think – Emirates are pretty good, on par with Singapore airlines I think, although Dubai airport isn’t as nice as Changi in my opinion (not enough places to sit down outside the gates whilst one is waiting for an onward flight) but its modern and smart and efficient.
Anyways, on with the story… Read More
