Of planets, comets and motorbikes
Posted on March 10, 2013
No, I haven’t been riding to the stars, taking mind altering hallucinogenic drugs or doing the Sunday crossword!
My week (or rather slightly more than a week, I’m cheating slightly here, I needed to save a few pics from a couple of weeks back to make this work…) has been pretty full of cool things.
But most especially its been full of planets, comets and motorbikes. Read More
All work and no play
Posted on March 4, 2013
As the saying goes – all work and no play makes Charlie a dull boy.
I have been doing some fun stuff, but:
a. Its been too hot (no really – 40C+ – ugh)
b. I’ve been too lazy (see a)
c. I’ve been busy with other not so interesting stuff.
Anyway, if I have anyone left still reading this blog – here’s some words and pictures from the last month! Read More

Happy New Year, dear internet.
Yes, I know I’m about a month late, I’ve been busy, ok! :p
So, what has been going on in my world that’s meant a 6 week hiatus? One word
Work.
Boxing Day goodness
Posted on December 26, 2012
So, all you northern hemisphere dwellers with your snow and your wrap up warm Christmas cheer where mulled wine makes perfect sense don’t know how good you have it!
As I said before, it doesn’t feel like Christmas down here in Perth – it’s almost 40C today with clear skies (and a strong sea breeze, thank god) – everyone’s heading to the beach or barbecuing on the many foreshore picnic areas. How is that Christmas? LOL!
It is, however, perfect weather to have a little ride about and I think I might have to make this a Boxing Day tradition. Read More
Christmas lights
Posted on December 25, 2012
There’s a bit of a trend around these parts to decorate houses with Christmas lights. When I say decorate, I mean cover, top to bottom.
One particular street has been doing this for many years, with most of the residents participating. It’s got so famous that the area is packed with people on Christmas Eve, all wanting to come see.
It’s also become our tradition to go for a wander. Read More
Christmas Eve ride
Posted on December 24, 2012
Hello and Happy Christmas!
It never feels like Christmas; As someone who grew up in northern hemisphere, Christmas should be cold and snowy. Ok, we are talking England – grey and rainy. So when it’s wall to wall sunshine and the temperatures are in the mid to high 30’s C – it just doesn’t feel Christmasy. It is, however, perfect weather for chilling out and enjoying the time off.
So I went for a ride with Pete.. Read More
Sunday blast
Posted on December 16, 2012
My friend Pete had been planning a Sunday ride out on the bike with his Dad and I was invited along. The plan was to ride up to the hills through Serpentine and Jarrahdale and then into Pinjarra and onto Mandurah for a late breakfast.
The sun was shining, it was already warm out, Jay was still in bed and little ‘un was fast asleep when I set out at 8:30am on the little red Ninja 250 to meet up at Pete’s house. Read More
Ride out to Mandurah
Posted on December 6, 2012
I had a few hours to kill, so I went on a ride on the Ninja 250R and my camera to Mandurah.
Mandurah is only half hour away from where I live. It’s a relatively modern town (now a city – but that’s kinda relative – it’s not on the same scale as European cities) which has grown from nothing more than a small fishing village to a big town in just 30 years. It’s on the coast and benefits from a natural estuary of the Murray River which is bigger than Sydney harbour. Mandurah has made use of the estuary to build a nice shiny marina and boardwalk complex with restaurants and bars and also a very flashy housing development with multi million dollar homes with a series of canals for the residents to keep their boats. Red Wine Wednesday – Driftwood 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon
Posted on December 6, 2012
Well you almost didn’t get a review of this wine – I started drinking it yesterday, fully expecting to do a red wine Wednesday, but got side tracked taking to a friend about his permaculture hobby (hey Lindsay!) and forgot and I’m a day late down to the last 1/2 glass already before I’ve even written a word – oops!
Ah well, you’re all used to me being a bit flexible with a) the wine being red and b) it being Wednesdays.
So – for your viewing pleasure, wine fans, I give you Driftwood Cabernet Sauvignon 2009. Read More

The other day I had to go out to choose a new front door from a supplier that has a warehouse in a pretty rough looking industrial zone. The place was amazing and I got what I was looking for pretty quickly, which left me a little bit of time to take a couple of pictures and take the long way home Read More
