drinky-poos

So having got a very large collection of alcomaholic beverages left over from the party, its only fair that whilst Jay and I watch some of season 4 of Dexter, I mix up a couple of tipples.

So, tonight, we have Vodka Martini and Cosmopolitan

Vodka martini (shaken, not stirred) was okay – nothing to write home about – basically just vodka with a dash of dry vermouth.

Cosmopolitan – much nicer – 2 parts vodka, 1 cointreau, 1 cranberry juice, 1/2 lime squeezed over crushed ice, shaken and served in a cocktail glass.

Nom nom

Is it okay for my cheeks to be numb?

party night

The 80’s cocktail party for Jay and my Hen and Bucks night on Saturday night was frickin’ incredible!

You’ll have to wait for the photos as I’m at work right now, just spending a few mins collecting my thoughts before I have to tackle solution design and my brain descends into the dark depths of IT for the rest of the day..

Everyone got dressed up (as you’ll see later) – our friends had done us proud by decorating their house top to tail in old 80’s record sleeves, records, 80’s posters etc.   I had lugged over an entire boot full of alcohol in earlier in the week and that and the cocktail glasses were nicely arranged on the kitchen bench ready for action.

The music was cool – although not the 80’s stuff I remember from growing up in the UK – I guess thats one cultural difference thats going to continue to pop up

Cocktails were brilliant, so much fun mixing and shaking them, but not as much fun as the drinking *hic*

Got quietly plastered, danced a bit (I think) and had such a good time.

Jay and I walked the 10 mins home at about 2am and she didn’t get up until 4pm the next day!

Pics to follow 🙂

party time

Its party time next weekend – as we’re old farts, we’re having a joint hen and bucks party (hucks?) with lots of friends – and its an 80’s cocktail party.

Oh yes 🙂

Get your leather ties, jackets with roll up sleeves, leg warmers and severe makeup ready, we’re side step dancing and jitterbuggin’ all night.

Costume has been annoyingly difficult to source – we didn’t have that much time to get stuff, so ordering from the UK or US or even China on ebay wasn’t possible, which is a terrible shame as there was so much good stuff to be had. So we were limited to costume shops, ebay Australia, salvos and the like. Which has, frankly, been a nightmare.

I had the best I {heart} NY t-shirt, acid wash jeans and some wicked sunnies lined up on ebay, but got outbid and ridiculous prices – arse. Costume shops are a bit of a joke for blokes dressing up to say the least – its either a naff Ghostbusters outfit

or an overly expensive Michael Jackson red PVC get up

So, I have improvised with what I could find on ebay that would ship in time. Heaven help me.

Still waiting for the 3 most important bits – they have 6 postage days to get here, I reaaaaaaally hope they arrive or I’ll be going as Tom Cruise in Risky Business.

Mind you, I’m starting to think that might have been a better choice..
