Back to England – part 5

It was scheduled to rain for the next couple of days, but it wasn’t supposed to hit until much later in the day, so my sister and I took the chance to head down to the beach.  It’s an hour’s drive to Camber Sands but the traffic wasn’t too bad and the sun was shining.  We decided to leave early and be packed up…

Back to England – part 4

The weather was unusually kind to us, so we had plenty of time to lark about – we went swimming where Henry actually learned to swim properly (rather than just flailing) – Ella is a fully fledged dolphin already and there’s no stopping her, but it was really nice to see the boy graduate into the swimming camp rather than the sinking camp. Anyways,…

back to England – part 3

We went out for Pizza for lunch – my mum and dad’s idea – lots of kids, vigorous exercise and then a treat – can’t much argue with that. My dad sensibly peeled off from the park early to go back up to the town to book us a a table, but we were sufficiently early that we almost had the place to ourselves.

Back to England – part 2

The weather was beautiful, so we made the most of the local parks and my parents garden (which has a teeny freshwater crayfish in the brook that runs through it), playing with the kids and generally having fun.  We made good use of the village shop and bought all kinds of yummy treats – thats the one good thing about living in a village…

Back to England – part 1

It was time to see the children in England.  I’d booked the flights ages ago – but as the Olympics were on, they were massively expensive and only the less desirable flight times were available.  I worked all day Friday and then caught the flight out at 2am *bleaugh* was a very long day.  I got a bit of sleep, did the 2 hour…

Holidays – part 6

It was the last day and everyone was tired and wanted a lie-in.  I, of course, woke up at 5am to the dawn light. Meh – no lie-in for me. Ah well. I decided to go out with the tripod and take some more ‘professional’ (read – taking a long time messing about with different settings that would not be possible with a family…

Holidays – day 5

The first thing we did in Denmark was to go to a nearby Alpaca farm.  The kids had been couped up and needed to run around and to pet fluffy animals. Pentland Alpaca Farm was about 15 minutes from where we were staying and looked quite promising from the website.  I’d had a few recommendations from other people too, so it was pretty much…

Holidays – day 4

So, where were we? Ah yes, wine tasting and long days out. Well, the next day we had to drive to Denmark which is a pretty long way through mostly forest and on windy little roads.  Fun.  Especially with kids. Don’t get me wrong, its a beautiful forest, but it does go on.  And on.  And on. We kept on trucking for a few…

Holidays – day 3

It’s funny – it only takes a week or two and suddenly it’s hard to remember what order things happened in! Day 3 we got up early and went to see the Ngilgi Cave which was just round the corner from where we were staying.

Holidays – day 2

Due to various dietary needs and restrictions, we’d had to plan ahead a little with eating out.  We’d booked ourselves into Hay Shed Hill winery for breakfast and for a late lunch in Settlers Tavern in Margaret River and then planned out a sort of route between feeds to take in the must see sights.
