if at first..

..you don’t succeed, then try try try again. You may remember I took a few photos of the jetty (again) last week – well, I wasn’t happy with them, so I went out again last night to take some more My fave of the night: Same view, just a slightly different range of colours – I think this was a slightly longer exposure And…

I’ll spin you right round..

..like a record baby (only with a camera held out at arms length) I’ve seen these shots done a a few times, so I thought I’d give it a go. Set camera to have 1/4 to 1/2 second shutter, hold at arms length point at your head, spin around on an office chair, press the shutter, try not to look too much like an…

busy, like a fox

A rolling stone gathers no moss, as the saying (proverb?) goes, and this week, I am certainly free of mosses, lichens and any rock growing greenery – I’ve been out with the camera again.  I know, amazing, you’re all thinking – he never does that..  **rolls eyes** Anyway, dear readers (of which I have around 100 a day at the moment, apparently – feel…

my god, its full of stars..

(thats a quote from “2001, A Space Odyssey” if you didn’t know) Tonight, Anja had a school astronomy science lesson at one of the teacher’s houses not too far from here.  Her class and a few brave parents gathered in the falling light at the back of the gorgeous 5 acre property to look at the sky and learn about the stars. I’m a…

more new lens pictures

In celebration of ultra wide angle goodness, I’ve taken a load more photos 🙂 I love this lens – its less good with buildings as you get that crazy leany walls things going on, but its awesome with landscapes and settings where it doesn’t mess with architecture too much.

New stuff!!

So, in the background whilst I’ve been posting all the holiday photos and stories, life has been carrying on as normal! I’ve missed a Red Wine Wednesday (but I have the wine photo and blog post ready for next Wednesday, so stay tuned, vino-fans) and loads of other fun stuff has happened (but I’ve forgotten already), but the main and most exciting thing is…

Holidays, part 2 – Lancelin to Kalbarri

We left Lancelin early, as frankly the hotel accommodation left everything to be desired and we couldn’t stand being there any more.  That and we had a huge drive to Kalbarri to do before the end of the day. Before last week, there was no road north from Lancelin, you had to go east inland 30km or so and hop on the main highway,…

Three go on an adventure

A little tale from the motherland.. Towards the end of the time in England with the kids, they were nagging that it was sunny out and dinner wasn’t for an hour or so and can they have an adventure. So, we hopped into the car and I took them to Knole Park – a Medieval deer park that survives pretty much intact – to…

Piccies from a foreign land

I got my films from my trip to the UK back yesterday and they are awesome! I love my Hasselblad, it produces amazing images – so clear and full of glorious colour and definition in a way that digital images somehow aren’t.  The trouble is, scanning these amazing prints and showing them on here doesn’t show them how they are at all 😦 I…

freak magnet

Mostly, being average looking, average height and average build, I don’t attract any attention wherever I go.  This comes in handy when I want to take photographs, particularly in the street where people are sometimes suspicious of that kind of thing. Recently though, I have been toting my Hasselblad medium format film camera about the place and as it’s pretty unusual looking (compared to…
