So, Its that time of the week again. Well, lets be more specific, its the time of the week where I write about the wine I drink as if it’s the only day I do the drinking. There are may be other days of the week where I am unfaithful to Wednesday, but the specifics of which are in the hands of my lawyers…
Every now and again life throws up a little surprise that just sits there and goes ‘Ha! you didn’t expect THAT did you?’ Usually, these are bad things, like a chainsaw to the leg, driving headlong into a freshly opened sink-hole in the road or a wasp stinging you in the eyeball* *I might be kind of hamming it up a little here Sometimes,…
A while ago I bought a mint condition Polaroid Sum LMS and a boat load of 600 film for my wife for her birthday. I know, nice, aren’t I? Anyway, I also got her some of the Impossible Project‘s ‘Silver Shade’ film – a new experimental Polaroid style film – it takes whimsical images in a kind of pale sepia black and white style,…
So, in keeping with my status as a ‘Posh Pom’, Jay and I went to the ballet last night. Yes, ballet. Lar dee dar. The West Australian Ballet (http://www.waballet.com.au/) was doing a production of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ at the Burswood Theatre, which is in a giant (and mostly horrible) ‘Entertainment Complex” just outside Perth and Jay had been nagging asking me if we could go…
Hooooo yes folks, its Wednesday already, so its time to take a bottle of plonk from the wine cellars at Watkins Manor and educate the vino Luddites of the world. Todays wine: Pinot Noir A good Pinot is a delight. Its a soft and relatively light red wine, full of light juicy blackcurrenty and cherry type flavours. It is very flavoursome without being heavy,…
*peers through hole in door made by axe” Ok, nothing quite so dramatic or scary, but in other words – I’m back 🙂 I’ve been a tad (understatement of the century – I worked 7 1/2 days, 18-20 hours a day) busy with work and haven’t managed to get to anything bloggy or flickry, only managing some tweets on my way to and from…
Yes, I know – its a slight variation on the Oasis or Dr Feelgood songs.. As regular readers of this fine and entertaining blog (yeah, okay, I’m overselling it somewhat) will know is that Jay and I went to see the B52’s and the Proclaimers at Sandalford Wines just outside Perth at the weekend. We got there early, which turned out to be a…
I adore this blog http://fuckyouverymuch.dk/ I know it has a rude word in it, but I think its very clever. A little visual journey through the eyes of a young couple in simple photos and very few words. I wish I’d though of it, that’s how good I think it is.
We went to see the Great Moscow Circus in Perth yesterday which was really cool. I’d last been to a circus when I was really small, back in the day when lions and tigers and performing elephants were all the rage. Sadly for me, that meant coming away in an allergy haze which I’m told lasted for a week (all the sand, horses etc)…
well, its been a few weeks with the MacBook Pro now, so I thought I’d offer my thoughts! Speed. I have the slower of the 2 MacBook Pro 15″ models, but its more than quick enough, even for serious photo editing. Lightroom and PhotoShop CS3 run fast and without any problems, as does Open Office. Actually, thats probably the most noticeable speed increase. Everything…
